About Us

With 4,315-acres, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is Westchester County’s largest park. Its varied terrain and landscapes and miles of wooded trails provide a variety of activities in all seasons. There are areas for picnicking, lean-to camping, fishing, cross-country skiing, and sledding. The Trailside Nature Museum, founded in 1937, is one of the oldest museums of its kind in the United States.

The Friends of Trailside Museum and Ward Pound Ridge Reservation was organized in 1974 as a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting a better appreciation and understanding of the natural world and the relationship between people and the land. It is always seeking new members who care about the environment and the museum’s place in preserving the county’s natural history.
